About

The boy from Schiemond who won it all

Georginio Wijnaldum was raised by his grandmother Francina in Rotterdam's Schiemond district. She walked him 45 minutes each way to training. That discipline never left. By 16, he was starting for Feyenoord. By 24, he was captaining PSV to the Eredivisie title. By 28, he was lifting the Champions League.

Seven clubs across five countries. 690+ appearances. 150+ goals. A midfielder who redefined what it meant to be reliable in the biggest moments. Klopp called him fundamental. The numbers back it up: 91% passing accuracy, 11km covered per match, and the kind of goals that arrive when the stakes are highest.

96 caps for the Netherlands. 28 international goals. World Cup, Euros, Nations League finals. The Surinamese-Dutch kid from a working-class neighbourhood became one of the most decorated Dutch midfielders of his generation.

"Gini is one of the best I have ever coached. His control, technique, strength and vision were fundamental to what we built."
